Paros Park is situated on Agios Ioannis peninsula in Naoussa Bay. It is a unique location consisting of 80 hectares of land. All the area is preserved and protected by legislation. Therefore, there are many restrictions here. The is no building allowed, along with other activities like hunting etc. It was founded in 2009 and it is quite important place, as it also had an important role in island’s history. In 1700 it featured Russian naval base but today it is a place of joy for locals and tourists.
Around Paros Park, there are trekking paths of different lengths, open for everyone. You may have heard of Korakas lighthouse. This is a destination of one of the trails. Korakas is considered as one of the most important lighthouses in the world. Along with its location, it is an impressive place and therefore, if you find yourself in Paros Park, you shout visit it.
At the entrance to this unique location, there is also a monastery, open cinema and theatre. During summer months many events are organized here. Plays, movie projections and the well-known Agios Ioannis festival. Especially the last one attracts people not only from Naoussa, which is nearby but also from all over Paros. The peninsula took its name from the monastery of Agios Ioannis which was built around 1500.
In Paros Park there is also one of the most beautiful beaches in Paros. It is called Monastiri (monastery) and it consists of powdery sand. It features sunbeds, umbrellas and a quiet beach bar. Monastiri beach is often chosen by families. Due to its location in a small bay, it is protected from waves during summer months. The beach is also shallow. Therefor it is safe for small children. On the beach you can also find a small water sport center. You can rent for an hour, or more, sea kayak and have a nice time with your friends. There is an interesting way to reach to Monastiri beach and Paros Park. You can take caique boat from Naoussa and get here by sea. We suggest you try it even if you have a car or a scooter.
You can combine a visit in this part of Paros with a stop at Kolymbithres beach. This is one of the most famous locations in Cyclades.
